It all began nearly 14 years ago in the cluttered, coffee-drenched, music-filled offices of the graphic design department of a local Phoenix university. Brent Thomas and Mark Whiten filled their bellies with coffee and their ears with music while churning out the best graphic design known to man (well, some of that is true). In between the music were many conversations about Christianity, music and culture. Many years later, this has spawned a sporadic music/interview podcast and a string of house shows in the Phoenix area.
It won’t change the world, but it might change the way you think about “Christian” music. The Habañero Hour is a periodic music and interview podcast dedicated to exploring and challenging the idea of “Christian” music. We make no profit from the creative pursuits of others and make every effort to direct your attention to the artists’ own websites whenever possible. Our purpose is to help artists gain exposure while promoting an ongoing dialogue on the nature of “Christian” music itself. Most of the artists we play are Christians but are not available on “Christian” radio or in “Christian” bookstores.
